Melbourne’s Ash Grunwald has stripped-back blues to its essence. With thick rhythmic blues grooves and deep commanding vocals, Ash is reinventing blues for a modern audience.
His debut solo acoustic album, Introducing… is a spare recording of voice, guitar and stomp box, that interprets the tradition with a contemporary attitude. Influenced by blues artists such as Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Kimbrough and Collard Greens & Gravy, this album was named No. 1 Album for the Year 2002 (Cue Sunday Herald Sun - Lee Howard).
